"HEART" ORU - GRANT RECEIVED FROM CARROLL OPERATION ROUND-UP FOUNDATION

"HEART" ORU– Love Operation Round-Up

On August 7th it was a rather warm day – maybe even hot outside, but Carroll EMC Round-Up Foundation had a mighty COOL PARTY.  It was complete with ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, and cool drinks – for “favors” we received GRANT CHECKS, which was the answer to our prayers.  The Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park Committee appreciates the members of Carroll EMC participating in the program to help many non-profit organizations and make our community even better!  We plan to use our funds to provide a facility (Burn Pit) at the Park to retire old USA Flags that have served to represent our great Country until they are too worn to be a proper symbol of our Nation.  We plan to involve the Scouts, Home Depot has promised to help us, and this $2,000 grant will enable us to fulfill this need.  Having the programs at the Park we will be able to include different organizations in our area and the Veterans can teach the proper way to dispose of our National Symbol with dignity and honor!  Thanks again Carroll EMC O R U!

WALL OF HONOR # 22 INSTALLED

Wall of Honor # 22 at the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park was installed by our contractor Sammy Robinson on October 8, 2013.  48 Veteran’s names and service records are on these plaques.  Our goal was to have this wall up before our Veteran’s Day Ceremony on November 9, 2013.  We are happy that it is completed early!  If you or your loved one is on this Wall, please visit the Park and view your plaque.  As always the plaques look great.
Wall of Honor # 23 is about ½ filled.  After that we only have Wall # 24 left to be completed – then all the existing Walls of Honor will be finished.  Wall of Honor # 22 brings our total of Veterans on the Walls of Honor to 1,056, Wall # 23 will increase the total to 1,104 and when Wall # 24 is finished the total will be 1,152 Veterans on the Walls of Honor.  Park President Norris Garrett said, “This has been an extremely impressive task honoring our Veterans who have served us so well in war and in peace. “
Reservations for plaques may be requested by calling Garrett at 770-836-1111 or 770-653-5007.
