SPECIAL NOTICE FROM CARROLL COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK PRESIDENT
Since our Memorial Day Event at the Park will be held prior to the May meeting and the scheduled meeting date is Memorial Day, I have cancelled our May Meeting.
The Event Committee will be receiving a separate E mail as a final Coordination of responsibilities for our May 25 Event at the Park.
I encourage all of you to attend our Memorial Day Event at 11:00 a.m. at the Veterans Park on Saturday, May 25th, 2019. This Event will close out our Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of World War One and celebrate the founding of the American Legion Post Number 1 in Paris, France, following the end of World War One, and American Legion Post Number 143 in Carrollton.

------ WE WILL BE CELEBRATING OUR CENTENNIAL ON SATURDAY MAY 25 --- MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND --- WITH TWO HUGE EVENTS THAT WE VERY DEARLY WANT ALL Y’ALL TO ATTEND
At 10:30 Terry Lowry and the Carroll County Symphony will begin playing patriotic music for our Memorial Day service – at our wonderful Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park -------------------- At 11:00 formal program begins – The pledge to our flag – The National Anthem by the soloist who sang it at the National Convention – a speech by the Past National Commander of the Legion ------ Military honors by the Post 143 Color Guard and Honor Guard ---- And we top it all off with Mimi Gentry’s spine tingling rendition of God Bless America
THEN AT 6:00 THE EVENING OF MAY 25 WE HAVE RESERVED THE AMP FOR A FREE CONCERT BY THE BAND OF GOLD PLAYING --- OUR TUNES FROM THE 40’S 50’S 60’S AND 70’S

The Legion was founded on March 15, 1919 -----100 years ago --- BY SOLDIERS --- IN PARIS FRANCE --- BEFORE they left to return home ---- And at the very outset they created FOUR PILLARS THAT WOULD PROVIDE THE GUIDANCE FOR THE ORGANIZATION --- and to this day are the reason for the success and current viability of the organization.
