The program will begin at 10 A. M., Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park, located on Highway 16 just off the Hwy. 166 Bypass, next to the County Health Department.
Featured Speaker will be Lt. Col. Bill Hearnburg and this is his biography: Lt Col. Bill Hearnburg, United States Air Force Reserves, Retired, was born in LaGrange ,Ga., where he graduated from LaGrange High School and LaGrange College. He earned his way through College by working at the Colonial Store and with Scholarships from the Callaway Foundation. He also holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Ga., and an MBA from West Ga University.
Bill was actually drafted twice, and there is a story behind that. However, seeing the handwriting on the wall, he enlisted in the Air Force prior to attending Officer’s Training School.
Bill served on active duty from 1966 until 1970, with the Strategic Air Command, and the Tactical Air Command, which took him overseas for temporary duty. He served at Dobbins Air Reserve Base and Robins Air Force Base Ga in a variety of capacities and in the last several years of his career he served as commander of the 94th and 80th Aerial Port Squadrons until his retirement in 1992. Bill retired as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Southwire Company in 2001. He is married to Dr. Sharon Hearnburg, also an L.C. graduate, and they have three children and four grandchildren.
