WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

“Wreaths Across American” ceremony was conducted at the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park sponsored by the local chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.  The Project Officer was MOAA President LT COL Barry Gardner.  A wreath was placed in front of the flag for each of the Military Branches: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine, and in front of the POW/MIA Wall. Pictured from the left are LT COL Norris Garrett, President of the Veterans Memorial Park; MAJOR Sylvester Hendrix, Carrollton High School ROTC Commander; Alex Marroquin, ROTC Student; Jordan Brewer, ROTC Student; MSGT Marvin Cox, ROTC Instructor.
The Mission to Remember our fallen heroes, Honor all those who serve, Teach our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms, is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Arlington, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.  These ceremonies are made possible by thousands of volunteers who organize local ceremonies, raise funds to sponsor wreaths, and participate in the events. There is no government funding. The cost of the programs is paid by individual wreaths sponsors,
Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester, in 1992.
