CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE

Pictured above are Dr. Bohannon and the members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans who participated in the Memorial Service. (Chris Davis was not available.)

The Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park was the location chosen by the McDaniel-Curtis Camp 165 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans to hold their Confederate Memorial Day Service on Saturday, April 26. Dr. Keith Bohannon of the University of West Georgia’s History Department was the guest speaker for the event. A wreath was placed in front of the Confederate KIA Wall of Honor in remembrance of the 191 names of Carroll County citizens who were killed in the conflict. After the placing of the wreath, a musket salute was fired and Taps were played by Chris Davis to honor those who died. This is an annual event, and the Veterans Park is the perfect place to gather to honor the largest number of our Carroll County veterans who were killed in a single conflict.
