On Monday, February 27, 2012, the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park Committee met at the Eg-Ed Center. President Norris Garrett welcomed everyone especially the new members: Alice Robinson and Ronnie Pate. The regular business meeting followed the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Garrett recognized James Upchurch from the Woodmen of the World and he shared some history of the organization which was founded in 1890 and Lodge Number 100. Upchurch presented the Veterans Park with a large flag to be flown over the Veterans Park.

Garrett requested the ladies to surround Upchurch to hold the 8’ by 12’ flag for a picture. Pictured from the left are Betty Gaddis, Alice Robinson, Violette Denney, Edna Scott, Betty Levans, James Upchurch, Charlotte Cowart, Linda Pyle, Jo Garrett, and Janet Head. The top photo shows Norris Garrett (left) receiving the flag from James Upchurch.
