WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO AT THE CCVMP

Sometimes those of us in the CCVMP Association stay so involved with preparing the Park to receive plaques, selling and installing plaques, that we overlook the deep and meaningful family connections that our labors support and actually make possible.

Wendell Furr (a Vietnam veteran) received a plaque as a Christmas gift in 2015 from his daughter (Stacy Furr and step son Jody Allgood).  While visiting from Las Vegas in 2016, Jody was given a tour of the Park along with Wendell's grandsons Turner and Ross Martin.  This happens hundreds of times each year when families gather.  In years to come Turner and Ross will bring their grandchildren here to this spot where they can learn that Freedom is Not Free - and that their Great Grandfather was one that paid for it!

I hope that this little reminder of the end results of all your efforts add meaning to your celebration of Christmas!!!   Don

Note from Editor:  I want to take it a step further and add that if you honor your Revolutionary Patriot with a plaque, you can take the history lesson and family legacy back more than two hundred years.
